With more than 40% of Americans a $400 expense away from financial distress, the threat of crisis looms closely for too many families. Preventing families from spiraling into homelessness is an essential part of the Family Promise of Albuquerque mission.
PROACTIVE SOLUTIONS
Family Promise of Albuquerque offers a variety of strategies to ensure the people we serve do not fall into the cycle of housing instability that can devastate families and alter the course of children’s lives. These include providing rental assistance, clothing and food assistance, case management and community-based approaches that keep families housed.
Family Promise of Albuquerque has partnered with Family Promise National and Help Us Move In (HUMI) to assist families with rental assistance. Our partnership with Help Us Move In (HUMI) helps support prevention programming and is an example of how best practices are applied through the federated National Family Promise model.
In Family Promise of Albuquerque's inaugural year of offering assistance we were able to assist 32 families and just under 100 children to avoid homelessness. All the families who we provided one time assistance for remain housed.
